Bugs, gums, and blood vessels

New research is filling in more details regarding the mechanisms by which periodontal bugs destroy the gums and bone and participate in the development and progression of atherosclerosis. The periodontal pathogen Fusobacterium nucleatum has previously been shown to damage the arterial endothelium by creating gaps between the endothelial cells, allowing the bacteria and anything smaller (LDL, HDL, etc.) to migrate into the arterial wall and contribute to atherogenesis.

Diabetes and Oral Health Problems

Diabetes and Oral Health Problems

The more severe form of gum disease is called periodontitis. When you reach this stage, your gums begin to pull away from your teeth. Pockets form between your teeth and gums. These fill with germs and pus, and deepen. When this happens, you may need gum surgery to save your teeth. If nothing is done, the infection goes on to destroy the bone around your teeth. The teeth may start to move or get loose. Your teeth may fall out or need to be pulled.

Laser Assisted Gum Therapy - Effective weapon against gum desease

It attacks the Cause of the Gum Disease

We know that > 50% of all Americans over the age of 50 years old have some areas of gum disease in the mouth. Besides potentially losing the supporting bone and eventually the teeth, we now know that these same bacteria can translocate to other areas of the body and can contribute, to Heart disease, Strokes, Diabetes, Pre Term Births, Arthritis and potentially Cancer.

Stop Tricyclosan use

According to Dr Mecola various products contain Hazardous Endocrine-Disrupting chemicals.

Some of the most obvious ones include soaps and antibacterial wipes, but you can also find it in cutting boards, toys, clothing, household furnishings, pet food dispensers, and much more.

Despite the pervasive use of this chemical, troubling questions linger about its potentially harmful effects, especially for children.
